REDCAPS : A Group Of Goblins Who Need Blood Explained - Border Folklore ( Mythical Creatures ) The Redcap is one of a race of creatures with origins in British mythology, legend and folklore. Redcaps are often seen as small, ugly old men with large mouths and red caps and tattered clothing.
The Goblins known as Redcaps are said to live in old, abandoned castles and dungeons, and eliminate travelers who stay into their domain. Redcaps also are known to make their caps red by drenching them in human blood.

Redcap is depicted as "a short, thickset old man with long prominent teeth, skinny fingers armed with talons like eagles, large eyes of a fiery red color, grisly hair streaming down his shoulders, iron boots, a pikestaff in his left hand, and a red cap on his head" When travelers take refuge in his lair, he flings huge stones at them; and if he eliminates them, he soaks his cap in their blood, giving it a crimson hue. He is unaffected by human strength. Redcaps from English folklore are very different from those found in other cultures and are notable more villainious, as other Redcaps tend to be relatively harmless unlike their Border cousins, the reason behind this may well stem from the violent history of the land they are said to inhabit.
