Join Anna and Alf today as they take a break from the WALES COAST PATH and hop inland to CAPEL CURIG in NORTH WALES and visit THE OLDEST CHURCH IN SNOWDONIA.

CAPEL CURIG is a small village in the heart of SNOWDONIA ( located in the HISTORIC COUNTY OF CAERNARFONSHIRE on Thomas Telfords historic post road which is today called the A5 ) and is very popular with walkers heading to MOUNT SNOWDON .
It is a small mountain village but with a big reputation. All outdoor enthusiasts will have heard of this place.

The name CAPEL CURIG is derived from the small 6TH CENTURY CHURCH founded here by the CELTIC BISHOP, SAINT CURIG. Today this church is known as ST JULITTAS CHURCH and is in the ancient graveyard by the river bridge on the LLANBERIS ROAD and confusingly the church has been this name for 100 years ( Anna will explain why the name got changed in this video ! )

Anna and Alf take a circular walk through the village and visit this oldest church in Snowdonia and spend time at the lake /lakes called LLYNAU MYMBYR which is two lakes but used to be one lake called LLYN MYMBYR but a delta has built up midway along the north shore and this has cut the lake in two and that's why now we have the plural name of LLYNNAU MYMBYR.

In todays video as well as some history of CAPEL CURIG, Anna teaches some Welsh language words and pronunciation.
