The first set of some commercials airing during Must See TV on NBC, through its flagship station WNBC (channel 4) in New York. In 1996, the Thursday lineup consisted of Friends, The Single Guy, Seinfeld, Suddenly Susan, and ER.

This was also the season where Thursday's on NBC were red hot. All of the five fall programs were in the top ten, though Single Guy would be cancelled after two seasons. Law & Order moved to the lineup briefly that season, with its ranking at number 27 (it would still air on NBC for 20 years and come back a decade later).
