If you bumped into Kauwila Mahi on the street you probably wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he is a rapper, an artist, an activist, and a video game designer. What might surprise you is that he is also the lead student translator and editor for the Hawaiʻi State Archives. Whether he is writing a song or researching important historical documents, his mission remains the same: to perpetuate Hawaiian culture and to share vital moʻolelo from the past and present.
