Monday marks 40 years since the eruption of Mount St. Helens, a day that’s still in the minds of nearly everyone who witnessed its explosion.

Mike Hamilton had recently become the assistant news director for KOMO Newsradio in the spring of 1980 and couldn't have imagined the scene he would witness heading to that mid-May morning 40 years ago.
