Irving Berlin wrote it and Harry Richman made it famous, both on record [ Ссылка ] and as star of the 1930 film “Puttin’ On The Ritz.” You’ll note that Berlin’s original lyrics were all about Harlem (with no mention of Park Avenue or Gary Cooper). Later generations should recall the 1982 international hit version by Indonesian-born Dutch singer Taco (Ockerse), which made it to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of ’83: [ Ссылка ]
