In 1985, An Iranian F-14 Evaded 20 Air-to-Air Missiles.
On March 21, 1985, eight Iraqi MiG-27 bombers, being guarded by five Mirage F-1 fighter jets, were coming to hit 25 fully loaded Iranian oil tankers. An F-14 Tomcat protecting the tankers was going for refueling when it detected these enemies. The jet was very low on fuel, but the pilot still roared into the battle as he had no choice. The F-1 fighters fired 20 Matra air-to-air missiles at the F-14, but the pilot deployed chaff and flares and used ECM. Some missiles were dodged by the hard right and left maneuvers called Jinking. Soon, the Iraqi jets turned away.
