KEN VANDERMARK - acoustic solo concert - the magic of sounds for baritone saxophone, tenor saxophone, B clarinet and bass clarinet.
Ken Vandermark (born 1964) is an improviser, composer, saxophonist / clarinetist and curator. He moved from Boston to Chicago in 1989 and has been working continuously since the early 1990s as both a performer and an organizer of the jazz scene in North America and Europe. He records with many internationally recognized musicians in many different contexts. In 1999 he received the MacArthur Fellowship in music. Vandermark is one of the most important contemporary jazz musicians. A phenomenal saxophonist (primarily tenor) and clarinet player (primarily bass). He is regarded by critics as one of the most outstanding representatives of both these instruments in contemporary jazz. Ken Vandermark is also an animator of the jazz scene and the multitude of the projects he runs is really impressive. The basic form of the artist's expression is jazz and improvised music. Already at the beginning of his jazz concepts, Vandermark showed all his eclecticism, often rooted in the tradition of Ayler or Coleman.
