STORYLINE:
The US President George W Bush was given a royal welcome to Britain on Tuesday.
There were some protesters outside Buckingham Palace, but their shouts of disapproval were drowned out by the various military bands parading outside the palace and in its grounds.
A large British delegation was there to greet the US President, including Prime Minister Tony Blair, Home Secretary David Blunkett and Foreign Secretary Jack Straw.
On the American side, US Secretary of State Colin Powell was present as was National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice.
The US President was the last to arrive.
As his car drew up outside Buckingham Palace, he was met by Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke Of Edinburgh, also known as Prince Philip.
Mr Bush and his wife were presented to the British delegation before both National Anthems were played.
The US President then inspected troops before entering the palace itself as a guest of the Queen.
He was shown around a display of a number of paintings and photographs kept at the Queen's official London residence.
