Volunteers managed to get the 250 pigs (left and right some on the road) back to their enclosure at Sugar Mountain Farm in Orange, Vermont, yesterday by using a trail of hot dog buns (inset middle). The town's clerk Angela Eastman said people hadn't been able to walk on the road as pigs would chase them. Farmer Walter Jeffries (inset left) said 99 per cent of his livestock were now returned and claimed that they managed to get loose after a fence was damaged on the night of August 11. He is now facing a fine of $81,955 for the pigs having been a nuisance and 'public hazard' in the town.
