Georgia country rapper Cymple Man has released his new video for "Ricky Bobby" online. The video pays tribute to the 2006 Will Ferrell comedy classic "Talladega Nights" and takes hilarious catchphrases of Ricky Bobby and adds them into the hip-hop lexicon. The song is the latest single off of the "Dirtbagz Volume II" album, which was released today via Dirt Rock Empire.
"The beat for 'Ricky Bobby' just feels like it has a bounce to it, so naturally I did what any rapper would do and talked trash on it," commented Cymple Man. " I love the comedy of guys like Will Ferrel, Danny McBride, and Robert Downey Jr. etc. Those guys that have that kinda smartass sense of humor that I love. Ricky Bobby is one of my favorite characters because he's an asshole and just so over the top. Mixing the character into the song just seemed like a natural fit. For the video we were able to just cut loose and do stupid stuff so people could share a laugh with us and forget about all the stress in the world right now."
Born and raised in small Pierce County, GA; Dustin Bennett adopted the moniker of Cymple Man because he was a man of the people. His music is the soundtrack for regular 9-5 blue collar workers who want to crack a cold one and let loose after a hard day. Cymple Man's spits some backwoods rhymes into a mud jug with some potent beats will knock you on your ass. In 2016 Cymple Man joined forces with country superstars The Lacs and Florida rapper Hard Target to form the new country rap supergroup Racket County. The group would go on to produce the monster reggae-infused, feel-good hit "Sunday", which has since gone on to serve up more than 2 million views on Youtube.
"Dirtbagz Volume II" follows in the tradition of iconic label compilations of iconic label compilations like those from Death Row Records and Cash Money, and features the biggest names in country rap including The Lacs, Demun Jones, Hard Target, Crucifix, Nate Kenyon, Big Smo, Wess Nyle and more. The album is a flex of southern rap prowess as the roster delivers some high octane moonshine rhymes.
"Dirtbagz Volume II" is the follow-up to the now classic "Dirtbagz Volume I", which launched the label and produced the monstrous blue-collar backwoods anthem "Dirt Road Dollars" featuring Nate Kenyon. The song generated over 37 million spins on YouTube and another 19 million spins on Spotify. The compilation also produced new classics for the Dirty South including "Dirtbagz Anthem", "My Name Is", and the country ballad "Next Time It's 3am".
