The National/State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal Sitting in Kano has slated 20th June, 2023 for the adoption of final written addresses in the petition filed by Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura of APC, challenging the victory and declaration of Rufa'i Sani Hanga as the winner of the Kano Senatorial District Election.
The Petitioner, A.A Zaura is praying the Tribunal to declare him winner and set aside the the declaration and returning of Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga as winner of the Kano Central Senatorial seat.
The Petitioner was given 3 days to file his response and another 3 days each for the respondents within which to file reply in the point of law.
The Tribunal ordered Counsel to Rufa'i Sani Hanga, Barrister Ikpe to submit the Certified True Copies of all the documents he listed in his response
Sone of the documents listed include register of voters, report of the NNPP primary election conducted on the 8th September, 2022 among many other documents
However, Senator Hanga testified before the Tribunal in defence of his victory.
Under cross extermination, the 2nd Respondnt testified that his name was not in the register of All candidates published by INEC.
Senator Hanga also testified that he could not remember the number contained in his NNPP membership card.
Under cross extermination, Hanga further said he is not a party in a suit file NNPP from Federal High Court, Kano to Supreme Court.
When the Tribunal resumed today for continuation of defense, Senator Hanga and NNPP closed their case through their legal representative, Barrister Meshak Ikpe.
Similarly Justice Watch News observed that 1sr and and 4th Respondents, INEC and Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau closed their defense without calling any witness.
