Caitlin Clark has declared for the 2024 WNBA draft! She is a senior guard from Iowa, who has been dominating college basketball for the past four seasons. Caitlin announced the news on social in advance of Iowa’s Senior night on Sunday when they face Ohio State.
Here is what she said:
“While this season is far from over and we have a lot more goals to achieve, it will be my last one at lowa. I am excited to be entering
the 2024 WNBA Draft. It is impossible to fully express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me during my time at lowa - my teammates, who made the last four years the best; my coaches, trainers, and staff who always let me be me; Hawkeye fans who filled Carver every night; and everyone who came out to support us across the country, especially
the young kids. Most importantly, none of this would have been possible without my family and friends who have
been by my side through it all. Because of all of you, my dreams
came true.”

Caitlin had one season of eligibility left, thanks to the NCAA granting an extra year to athletes due to COVID-19. However, she decided to forego that option and make the leap to the professional ranks, where she is widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick
In four seasons at Iowa Caitlin has played in 129 games starting in all of them and for her career she is averaging 28.3 points per game, and she also averages 8.1 assists, 7.1 rebounds, on 46% shooting.
Caitlin Clark is a generational offensive powerhouse, who can score just about anywhere on the court and has the vision to thread the needle and create opportunities for her teammates.
As a college athlete Caitlin has accomplished just about everything there is to do, she led Iowa all the way the the NCAA championship game last season, she won numerous individual awards, such as the Naismith Trophy, the Wooden Award, and the Wade Trophy, All-American, Big Ten Player of the Year, and more. She’s done just about everything there is to do in college, and now its time for her to move to the W.
Clark’s potential landing spot in the WNBA is the Indiana Fever, who have the No. 1 pick in the draft. The Fever are a young and rebuilding team, who finished last season in 10th place with a record of 13 and 27. With the likes of Aliyah Boston, NaLyssa Smith, Kelsey Mitchell on the team already, adding a point guard like Caitlin could be huge in getting Indiana back to a championship.
The 2024 WNBA draft is set for Monday, April 15, one week after the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament, where Caitlin will have one more chance to showcase her skills and chase a national championship with Iowa, before she embarks on her WNBA career.
