You will use 1 PC for content / gaming capture
And a second PC for encoding / streaming to your preferred streaming service
The NDI plugin enables you to broadcast your OBS scene from PC 1, and receive it over your local network connection to PC2. Where PC 2 can then encode and upload the compressed stream to Youtube, Twitch etc.
Step 1. 1:22
On *both* your content / gaming PC, and the encoding / streaming PC
Install the OBS installer
Install the OBS NDI plugin
Step 2. 5:35
Configure PC 1, your content / game capture computer.
Run OBS, go to settings and define the Video settings. Set the resolution for your scene to whatever your want to stream / broadcast at. 1080P is most common, 1920x1080. Use 30 or 60 FPS based on your preference, if you have good hardware 60 is better.
Add a new source to capture your game or content, I use a display capture source in this example though you could use Game or Window Capture.
Ensure your Network profile is Private, not Public.
Your Content / Gaming PC is good to go.
Step 3. 9:02
Configure PC 2, your encoding / streaming PC
Run OBS, go to settings and define the Video settings. This should match what you used on PC 1, most likely 1080P.
Add a new source, select NDI Source, in the source properties the "source name" should have a dropdown list containing your OBS NDI broadcast.
Select it and click OK, though if the list is blank, you may need to check Network and Firewall settings.
You should now be receiving the broadcast from PC 1 on PC 2, and you can configure your stream settings for going live.
Please look up the recommended stream setings, and setup process for your preferred platform, e.g. Youtube, Twitch etc.
Troubleshooting 10:47
Check that your Network profile is "private"
Also ensure that OBS is allowed in Windows firewall settings
