This test used two silver coins across opposite facets of the crystal. A small consistent tap on all the crystals was then measured on the oscilloscope to measure the DC piezoelectric voltage spike created by a pulse of pressure on the crystal's lattice structure . The crystals measured were a natural crystal and a 4, 6, 8 and 16 sided Vogel cut crystals
