OK, so normally I lug the 63 Reissue Vibroverb around, mic it up and feed that in to the PA.
We have some TC Helicon personal monitors for general foldback. You can put your mic or instrument in to this also before it goes to the desk so you can control how much 'Me' and how much 'Them' you get through the monitors. It's really pretty good, and because they are compact and localised, you can keep the stage levels down to a more manageable levels. Only trouble is, raw electric guitar sounds terrible when it hasn't been though a guitar amp and speaker. So that's why I mic up the Vibroverb, use it for my fold back and lead the mic back to the desk. I get every one else through the TC.
So I acquired a Blackstar Fly 3 and was pretty impressed with the general tone, the built in drive channel and the echo. It also has a speaker emulated output.
So, the thought occurred, could I ditch the 'verb and go straight to the desk from the emulated speaker output?
So, what we are hearing is guitar PRS SE Tremonti with a Duncan SH-2N Jazz neck pickup and no effects. We are feeding the Fly clean channel with a little echo. The Fly speaker is bypassed as I have taken the emulated headphone out and fed this through the TC Helicon to the desk.
There are no fancy mics or recording equipment involved in this video, just my phone perched on the edge of the stage. The music we are playing is perhaps not the most exciting song we've ever done, but hopefully it shoud give an idea of what the Fly can sound like when used in this way.
Personally, I could use this setup, but It's not a fender vibroverb is it?
