"Science Student" is sung in Yoruba and some pidgin English and has been translated fully to English. In "Science Student", Olamide raps about different popular drugs in Nigeria and how people create and abuse these substances and the effects of these substances.
Olamide mentions Sango a number of times in this song. Sango is an Orisha, the Yoruba deity of thunder and lighting and fire. There were lines that were impossible to directly translate to English including “Eluku mede mede” Although I translated it to “Son of Eluku”, it is actually a lineage praise of a Yoruba Ancestral Home. Olamide has been accused of promoting drug use with this song but the lyrics and recent music video do indicate that Olamide was just highlighting how people abuse drugs and the negative effects of these substances.
