We're trying to take advantage of every day that we wake up next to the sea. One of our latest excursions took us to Ali Pasha’s Castle, located at the mouth of the Vivari Channel.
The castle can only be accessed by boat. However, there's a trail on the opposite side of the bank that allows visitors an interesting perspective of the historic building.
Built during the 15th and 16th centuries by the Venetians, the castle was eventually destroyed in 1804 by the French to prevent it from being used by the Ottomans.
Ali Pasha of Tepelenë, the Ottoman ruler, began rebuilding and improving the castle until his death in 1822.
