I had the honor of being the celebrity assistant for Bo Hopkins (American Graffiti, Dynasty, The Wild Bunch, and over 100 other movies) when he was asked by long-time friend Ron Howard to play Papaw in 'Hillbilly Elegy'. His co-stars were Glenn Close, Amy Adams, Haley Bennett and Owen Asztalos. We shot the scenes in Georgia and Ohio in the summer of 2019. What an amazing experience...
Ron and Bo had met for the first time when Bo was on the Andy Griffith Show and then years later on American Graffiti when Bo played the Pharoah.
Ron had wanted to do another project with Bo and when he was casting Hillbilly Elegy, he asked Bo and the rest is history!
Bo has been a long-time friend to my husband and I and it was such an honor to be on such a professional movie set.
It is an experience I will never forget. Thanks, Bo, for letting me tag along and meet so many new and fun friends...
