A strong thunderstorm dumped golfball sized hail at Newport. A radio station reported 80 MPH winds with the storm. Extensive window damage was reported in the city. Trees, power lines, utility poles, and antennas were blown down. There were reports of damage to roofing shingles and gutters. one person suffered minor injuries from flying debris. Part of the roof was blown off the Newport Fire Department. Numerous vehicles were damaged by the hail.
