In people with dementia, personality changes can sometimes be striking. An essential part of the brain, the frontal lobe, that's part of the brain that helps you edit or inhibit things you might not otherwise not say.
Mood changes as well. When you're working so hard to navigate the world it can be anxiety-provoking. When the things you've taken for granted are now difficult, you can get anxious and depressed.
