The Browning Hi-Power is a iconic semi-automatic pistol in 9mm (9×19mm Luger or Parabellum), that had a mayor influence on firearms designs. It was based on a design by famous American firearms inventor John Moses Browning (1855–1926) and was completed by Belgian firearms designer Dieudonné Saive (1888–1970) in the year 1935 at firearms manufacturer FN Herstal in Belgium. It has a single-action trigger like the Colt M1911 pistol (also invented by John Browning and used as the official sidearm of the US Armed Forces from 1911 to 1985), but uses a 13-round magazine, which is almost twice that of other designs at the time, such as the Luger P08 or Colt M1911. During World War II, Belgium was occupied by Germany and the FN factory was used to build the pistols for their military. FN Herstal continued to build guns for the Allied forces by moving their production line to Canada. So the Hi-Power was used on both sides during WWII. The Hi-Power is one of the most widely used military pistols in history, having been used by the armed forces of over 50 countries.
