In this performance one can almost feel the disappointment Keith felt at having to perform this excerpt of his concerto as a solo piano piece following the departure of the orchestra from the Works Live tour. Many have said the Works album was the "beginning of the end" for Emerson Lake and Palmer and no where is it more painfully evident than here in this recording. This transcription is, to me, one of profound sadness to hear Keith at what must have been his darkest hour - a hurried rush through a straight reading of the piano part to his Concerto #1. RIP Keith Emerson (1944 - 2016)
