The Senate Government Operations Committee held a hearing on SB660, the bill that would allow Prairie Plant Systems of Canada to build 16 medical marijuana grow facilities in Michigan with 1,000 plants each if the feds change the drug to Schedule 2. The hearing was chaired by Sen. Randy Richardville, co-sponsor of the bill. Initial drafts suggested Prairie Plants was seeking to be the sole source of medical marijuana as they are in Canada. Members of Michigan's medical marijuana community used the hearing to raise concerns they fear are not being heard by state government. Jim Powers and Pediatric Cannabis Therapy spoke in opposition to the bill.
