We’re back in Shanghai at the West Bund Art Center, where the fourth edition will assert its roots in China, packed full of new content. For five days from August 28 to September 1, 2024, Watches and Wonders Shanghai will offer a dynamic and innovative program, opening its doors to the general public for the first time over three days as local and international players come together to share their passion for watchmaking.
Watches and Wonders Shanghai opens its doors on Wednesday August 28, 2024, for a watchmaking event that has become unmissable. After two days reserved for professionals, the Salon is opening its doors to the general public for the first time over 3 days from Friday to Sunday!
This particularly inspiring Chinese edition of the event is guaranteed to get pulses racing, showcasing watchmaking on several levels, from collection launches and demonstrations, to presentations of exceptional timepieces, a new forward-looking space called the LAB to discover, a program of tailor-made talks and a stunning photo exhibition.
Nine prestigious Maisons will be taking over the West Bund Art Center, with a generous array of activities on their booths. They have redoubled their efforts and ingenuity to build a program designed for fine watchmaking newcomers, connoisseurs and collectors alike. This is more than just a stroll past the booths windows; the exhibiting brands are inviting visitors to immerse themselves in an experience full of surprises designed to appeal to the emotions. Attendees will be able to take part in Touch & Try sessions – where they can hold iconic timepieces or this year’s newest models in their hands – as well as guided tours.
The new LAB space will allow startups, schools and engineers to share their vision of the watchmaking of the future. Innovation will be the focus, with an emphasis on education and culture. A program of 6 talks and 5 panels in the Auditorium – discussing topical themes and deciphering the industry's trends and challenges – will also target the younger generation.
Last but not least, a selection of striking black-and-white photos from the Les Garde-temps exhibition by Luc Debraine – former director of the Swiss Camera Museum in Vevey – which skillfully stages frozen watches and clocks, shown at the Geneva Salon. Every photo is designed to preserve the precious time that stands still.
Opening up to a broader audience and with a special focus on future generations, Watches and Wonders Shanghai is a new highlight for the watchmaking industry. Its rich and immersive program will ensure this new edition helps everyone discover the inner workings of a creative industry that never ceases to inspire. The journey has only just begun.
Tickets and registration are available online on the Watches and Wonders WeChat mini-program, as is the full program.
