This guitar lesson covers the second guitar solo in the Cowboy Song from Thin Lizzy, The solo is on the A major pentatonic scale ie. A, B, C#, E and F#. To clarify the picking technique on 2:43 - 3:18 I approach the first time picking the B and E string from the "outside", but on all the subsequent repetitions, I use this technique on the G and B string (since there is no time to re-position). So all of the other times it is a down pick on the G string followed by an up pick on the B and then also up on the E string. That's just what worked for me. Normally alternate picking across strings I find I use down on the first (lower) string, and then an up pick on the second (higher) string.
