On a hazy day in mid-May, Stars and Stripes got the opportunity to tag along with Naval Beach Unit 7's LCAC 8 during a timed training run. NBU 7 is an integral part of amphibious operations in the Pacific, tasked with delivering Marines and equipment to the beach in the event of a conflict or disaster relief operations. NBU 7 is operating out of a new $285 million facility near Sasebo Naval Base in western Japan.
