Black beard, Black brush or simply BBA is one of the most notorious pests found in planted aquariums. Once you have this algae its very hard to get rid of. There are lots of chemical treatments out there but in most cases they only work as a temporary fix and it will come back.
In this video I go over what causes BBA. We look at a couple examples in my tank and go over some different cues for black beard algae to grow as well as some myths that are commonly spread about what causes BBA.
