FDNY fire trucks responding with multiple departments to a water main break which caused flooding and a sinkhole that submerged a car on Amsterdam Avenue between W89th and 90th St on the Upper West Side of New York City, United States Of America ( USA ).
At approximately 9PM (21:00) EST Monday the 29th August, a water main break occurred on the Upper West Side. The break caused flooding to several properties whilst a sinkhole enlarged, submerging a BMW X5 SUV.
The water mains were shut off at approximately 11:30PM (23:30) to prevent further flooding of the street.
The flooding damaged props in a nearby theatre which the FDNY's Rescue Operations had to clear of water as seen at: 12:30
The break left several properties, including a high rise, without water as residents and local businesses, including a flower shop, filled up from a fire hydrant outside.
The next day repairs to the road were underway.
