The cold first half of May was followed by a hot and dry second half of month. I planted french beans and squashes. I watered and harvested the salad crops. Salad season arrived with mosquitoes. The garden birds are all back from their spring migration - the day and night are full of birdsong.

This No Dig kitchen garden located in Estonia, in the northern part of Europe. The transitional temperate climate presents its own challenges. Winters are dark and cold, springs are unpredictable, and in midsummer the nights are also white. This garden is less than 200 sq meters, plus greenhouses. I am a hobby gardener and this is my playground.
