This channel has been created so that I can upload recordings of Queen concerts (the best live band there was/is to see out there!) I will be making the format of this channel very similar to that of other popular bootleg channels, such as Gregsynthbootlegs, Chinwonder2, etc. To start off, I will be uploading the earliest known Queen concert on recording, at the Golders Green Hippodrome in London.
City: London, England
Venue: Golders Green Hippodrome
Setlist:
1. “Procession”
2. “Father To Son”
3. “Son And Daughter”
4. “See What A Fool I’ve Been”
5. “Ogre Battle”
6. “Liar”
7. “Jailhouse Rock”
Encore
8. “Big Spender”
9. “Bama Lama Bama Loo”
This show was broadcast on radio for a small audience. DJ Alan Black commentates throughout the show.
The band open up the show with an early version of Procession. This was then followed by probably the first known performance of Father To Son. Many of the lyrics are different to how they would be on Queen II.
Brian also does a much shorter guitar solo (compared to what would later come) in Son And Daughter. It would gradually get longer up until the A Night At The Opera Tour.
The band also perform See What A Fool I’ve Been, a song that would occasionally be used as an encore number until 1977.
Ogre Battle is also done here, the last of 3 tracks (including Procession) that would later be on the Queen II album. The band haven’t quite gotten the faster tempo in the 'battle section'.
In the band introduction, when John Deacon is introduced as 'Deacon John', something that occurred quite often until the Queen II Tour. This is then followed by a stellar version of "Liar".
The band then do the usual “Jailhouse Rock Medley”, followed by "Big Spender". You can clearly hear how Freddie’s voice is still “fresh” in these early days. Then the band do "Bama Lama Bama Loo" as their final song of the set.
The band surprisingly don’t perform Keep Yourself Alive at this show, which was just released as a single in early July. Unfortunately, Hangman and the early version of Stone Cold Crazy also aren’t on this recording, as Queen had a much shorter set.
The recording is in A+ quality and has been taken directly from the broadcast. Enjoy!
