Multiple structures were destroyed and evacuations were issued for a brush fire in Arapahoe County on Saturday.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said the brush fire started in the area of the 2400 block of South Quail Hollow Road, southeast of Byers, just after 10 a.m. The fire was estimated to be at least 1,100 acres when it was declared 100% contained a little after 3 p.m.
The sheriff's office said a three-mile area near County Road 193 and County Road 24 was evacuated. Evacuation orders have since been lifted.
Eight structures were involved in the fire, Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown said during a news conference. It's not clear how many of them were homes, but the sheriff's office previously said "multiple" homes were destroyed. Firefighters from numerous departments were on the ground providing structure protection for several nearby homes.
