Racing with the For AC Shelby Cobra in Sega's Outrunners arcade game! The game was developed by Sega's AM1 division for their System Multi-32 platform, and launched to arcades in 1992. The game's cabinet had a dual split-screen configuration. Only one channel of audio was presented for each screen, which explains why you only hear one audio track in the video. We reconfigured the game in MAME to to play as a 1 player configuration.
This was one of the easier to play games of the Outrun series, featuring long winding stretches of roadway, and less daunting curves than was seen in titles like Turbo Outrun. Outrunners also followed the original concept in terms of its use of parallax scrolling, and ever changing scenery. Each check point brought another city into view, and an entirely new scenery to go along with it.
We took the final stretch of the race through the underwater tunnel of the Atlantic Ocean.
