The team behind the making of the illuminated manuscripts is commissioned by St. John's University, once the largest Benedictine Church. The Monks of St. John's University sought to preserve the ancient manuscripts of Europe back in the 1950s and began the process of preserving these old manuscripts. This caught the attention of Donald Jackson who approached St. John's in 1996 to bring this project together. A committee of Theologians from St. John's along with Donald Jackson, 5 artists and 4 calligraphers are the workers behind this project. A font was specially created by Donald Jackson for this project. This project of creating the illuminated manuscripts uses all natural materials and the process of manually recreating the bible by hand was last attempted 500 years ago. The use technology for communication makes this the blending of old world methods with modern day technology. Velum, Chinese ink and all natural materials are used to create the illuminated manuscripts and now a video bible documentary thanks to St. John's University, [ Ссылка ]
