DNA Repair as Therapeutic Targets
By Dr. Michael Huen, The University of Hong Kong
Dr. Michael Huen, Associate Professor in School of Biomedical Sciences of The University of Hong Kong, explains the importance and implications of understanding DNA repair processes in human health.
Dr. Huen’s research aims to understand the fundamentals of DNA repair mechanisms in mammalian cells. His team examines how mammalian cells detect and respond to DNA damage. Because cells in our body experience DNA damaging assaults every minute, one can imagine the importance of faithful DNA repair in cell growth and animal development. Failing DNA repair cause a cohort of human conditions, including cancer and neurodevelopment diseases.
