As the end of the river season draws near, we arrive on the banks of the River Trent for our latest bi-annual foray into the back yard of our southern neighbours. The primary target for this trip is yet again, ‘The Prince of the River’, the hard fighting and impressive looking Barbel.
We’ve had some great success on our previous visits to this mighty river, however, on this occasion the odds are stacked against us, as a cold, clear river and freezing, bright conditions lay in wait. Nevertheless, some great fishing almost certainly lies in store, even if our ambitions need to be slightly curtailed.
