In this video, Labguy explains how to get the video and audio signals out of a portable video tape recorder when you do not have the appropriate cables. You may want to view the video on your video monitor, capture it on your computer or record a copy on another VCR or DVD recorder. You may also want to pass the video to your time base corrector or some other post processor. I show the simplest method for extracting audio and video signals from the ten pin camera connector, found on most of these portable recorders, set to the "TV" mode. Please note, this information does not apply to the Akai VT-1xx series of VTRs. See the connector page on my web site for that info. In that case, the video and audio is extracted through the monitor connector on the VTR's side opposite of the ten pin jack.
