Rustoleum Undercoating vs. Professional Grade (review) In this video I review rustoleum undercoating spray paint that comes in a can right off the shelf from your local hardware or auto parts store. I have always used this Rustoleum undercoating on the underside of my trucks because I like the final product and finish that it leaves once it is applied after undercoating your truck frame. This is a slight comparison of rustoleum undercoating vs. rustoleum undercoating pro grade to see if there is any major difference between the two. According to the two cans, the only main difference that it is stated, is that the pro grade rustoleum undercoating deadens sound, but I would have to think that the non professional the grade also does the same thing. They are both rubberized, and paintable after you undercoat your truck frame, but it is really not needed. The way that these two rustoleum undercoatings dried on my 24 valve cummins diesel truck frame, is really quite nice and in my opinion cleaner than the factory look. It dries with a matte black finish, and although it applies with what seems to be a bubbly texture, it dries smooth after leveling itself off on the frame of your truck. At the end of the day, I really don't see a need to spend the few extra bucks on the rustoleum undercoating pro grade vs. the regular rustoleum undercoating. There doesn't seem to be that big of a difference between the two to justify any extra money. The regular undercoating should do just fine. No matter what, you will probably have to apply this undercoating to your frame at least once a year to keep it in good health, especially if you live in a northern state with snow and salty roads. But that is totally your call! This is the second time that I have applied it to my 2nd gen cummins diesel, and I will apply it a third time if I have the truck next winter too.
