MED CAMPUS is a building complex for the new Faculty of Medicine at Johannes Kepler University in Linz. The architect Peter Lorenz from LORENZATELIERS speaks about the character and the advantages of their design, why they decided to make four separate buildings instead of one, why creating a new public square in the center of university life is so important, how to support sustainable energy consumption with facade design, why he thinks that architects are and should be those who serve the final users of the buildings - the students of medicine in this case, and why the successful function in architecture is overriding the importance of making the architecture beautiful. Despite the bumpy road to the final solution and execution, this architectural project is widely acclaimed architectural success.
