The inspiration behind this video:

The announcement that Moana was getting a live-action remake was a significant surprise since Disney has thus far kept its focus on the older classics. It seems like there would be a lot less to add to Moana's story since society's expectations haven't yet shifted so far (like they have since the release of the original The Little Mermaid). However, there is a certain benefit to remaking a movie while the original crew who worked on it is still around. For example, actors like Dwayne Johnson can reprise their roles, and Miranda can enhance his original soundtrack in a way audiences are more likely to accept.

Since Miranda wrote popular Moana songs like "How Far I'll Go" and "You're Welcome," he can take any number of creative liberties with them in the remake without worrying about infringing on another musician's legacy. In fact, since Miranda's career has only climbed since Moana, fans will be eager to see what the mind behind Hamilton and Encanto will come up with next. Regardless of whether the Moana remake is a success, it will be fun to see what new songs he will add to his previous masterpiece.
