Cuts from newsreel 46/60 - Germany's Food - The Truth.
Wheat ships in a German port. Wheat is unloaded by chute into barges alongside the ships. Wheat pouring from a chute into hold of ship. Barges loaded with wheat
A windmill on a German farm. General view of the farmyard. Allied commission officer interrogates a German farmer about his stocks. Inspects the farmer's food stocks in his cellar and in the barn. A sack of grain is found hidden in the hay loft. Horse with baby colt in a field on the farm. Cows in the farmyard.
Aerial shots of the German town of Hamm devastated by war (could be any devastated German city).
Logs unloaded at some kind of depot or outside grounds of factory. Several shots of paper (?) or could be pate (!) being made at a factory. Could even be sausage factory! Looks like great sheets of fibrous paper coming off massive machines. Big vats of pulp. Does look like paper, but them we cut to someone spreading pate on a piece of bread. Looks pretty yukky whatever it is!
German policemen on main roads, stopping cars and searching people for Black Market goods. Unloading goods and belongings from trucks and cars.
Good shots of German middle-class family eating watery soup or stew at table - toddler, older child and four adults. C/U of brown bread. Good shots of food being served. Man eating some kind of sponge and jam pudding. This is good stuff of rationed food - not very appetising!
Man in army uniform points at map on wall while others sitting at a table look on. Could be to do with food distribution in Germany. Others look at another map.
Man with blackened face walks along street. At the man's home we see him and his family eating utility food - seems pretty grim. This is obviously a poorer family than the ones we saw previously.
