Wild forest rats filmed using 850nm lighting. The rats can see the faint red glow of the LEDs and can smell the video gear. However, at one point the rats also seem to notice each other visually. They may see better at the red end of infrared than we do. This is something to think carefully about when filming more vulnerable nocturnal wildlife using intense 850nm lighting.
