Sri Lankan police arrested demonstrators in front of the country's parliament on Wednesday amid ongoing protests over a deepening economic crisis.
MORE: Protesters were seen being driven away in police vehicles after they were detained outside the legislature in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, a suburb of Colombo.
Elsewhere in the financial capital, occupations outside the presidential and prime ministerial offices continued.
Demonstrators have been calling for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his brother, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, to resign.
The island nation's economy is in dire straits with its usable foreign reserves down to less than $50 million, the country's finance minister said Wednesday.
Ali Sabri told Parliament on Wednesday that a rescue program from the International Monetary Fund was expected to take at least six months.
Sri Lanka is on the brink of bankruptcy and has suspended payments on its foreign loans.
The country is due to repay $7 billion this year of the $25 billion in foreign loans it is scheduled to pay by 2026.
