The valve cover gasket is usually one of the easiest oil leaks to diagnose as it is located at the top of the engine. Since the valve cover gasket is above the cylinder head, once it starts leaking, it can leak onto the exhaust manifold. When oil leaks on the exhaust manifold, common symptoms include a burning smell inside the car, and smoke coming from the hood of the vehicle.
