Glen Rosa is a beautiful valley in the centre of Isle of Arran, two miles away from the largest town on this island - Brodick. 4 miles trail starts near the large Glen Rosa campsite, located in very picturesque spot on the banks of meandering stream*. It is very easy walk, for all age groups with very gentle incline, along gurgling river. At some points the river was forming pleasant pools, which we could use for refreshing baths, as the day was incredibly warm. Especially Blue Pool is worth visiting. The highlight of the walk is a Glenrosa Waterfall cascading from the surrounding hills in form of smaller falls. Some of them are apparently artificial. For larger part of the walk you can see silhouettes of Arran mountains, with distinct peak of Cir Mhor in front of you. What is beautiful about Arran is the number of varied trails you can take to get from one place to another. This circular starting and ending next to the campsite is only one of the options. There are alternative trails to get to Glen Rosa from Goatfell, from Sannox and other places of interest.
*We would spend two comfortable on Glen Rosa campsite, if it wasn't for the terrible midges. Instead we spent two nights filled with struggle against these relentless creatures. Still, after spraying our self with 5 layers of antibug spray and starting a heavy-smoking camp fire it was possible to sit outside for few hours and enjoy peaceful (and buzzing) Glen Rosa.
