The Impact of a Nurse led Model of Chronic Disease Management in General Practice the Patients’ Perspective - Jacqui Young
APNA National Conference 2016 - Nurses | the heart of primary health care
Abstract Presentation - Speaker: Jacqui Young
Description:
This presentation will present a mixed methods study which was conducted to examine the impact of nurse-led care in three general practices, in two states of Australia. Patients were randomised to either usual (general practitioner) or practice nurse led care. This presentation will report on the findings from the qualitative phase of the study.
Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten participants purposively selected from the practice nurse led care group from each of the three general practices. Thematic analysis of interview transcripts was conducted to identify common threads that captured the essence of the participants’ perceptions of the practice nurse-led care and the impact it had on their health and quality of life.
Jacqui is currently employed at the University of Queensland as the Program Director, Master of Nursing Studies, a graduate entry pre-registration program. Jacqui’s nursing career has been varied, with experience in clinical, education, management & research areas.
