Time Lapse of a brown Texas figs beginning to fruit, grown indoors under full spectrum LED lights. This fig variety is very fast growing and can produce fruit within it’s first year when grown from clone. When grown in a frost free climate this plant will produce fresh fruit all year round, a true ever bearing fruit tree.

Being a deciduous plant it will want to shed its lower leaves if in a climate that does not allow it to go into dormancy. Most fig varieties are drought tolerant but they will thrive when given plenty of water. Crop and fruit size have a direct correlation to the amount of water the plant gets some make sure they don’t get thirty or they will pull the water out of the fruit and the figs will fall off the fruit before ripening.

Grown in a fabric smart to allow supreme drainage and excellent aeration. This variety can grow 2-4ft in a single year. Brown figs are great for eating fresh, drying or turning into a preservative fig jam. Perfect source of food for homesteading and people wanting to be more self sufficient by growing their own food and living off grid. Figs are self fertile and do not require a second plant to grow fruit, so if you live in an area with fig wasps for pollination so will still be able to grow crop producing plants.
