A depressed man hires an assassin to kill him when he least expects it, but when his life takes an upward turn, he finds he now wishes to live...
Some remember William Castle as a master of horror from the end of the 1950s to the 1970s. But in the 1940s he directed a handful of nice film-noir/mystery movies, starring Richard Dix, adapted from the radio show The Whistler, and also with Warner Baxter in the Crime Doctor series. Here is a golden cast, with Gloria Stuart, J. Carrol Naish who I particularly like, and a slight apparition of Byron Foulger, an eternal second for who I have some sympathy, and of John George, who played with Lon Chaney in The Unknown! Enjoy!
