(14 Jun 1965) In 1936, at Hope Cove near Salcombe, the "Herzogin Cecilie" - one of the last of the old grain ships, ran aground on Hamstone Rock. Weeks later on a high tide, the ship was pulled off the rocks and was towed round to Starhole Bay, where later she broke her back in a South Easter. Now the Royal Navy are using frogmen to break her up under water.
