Let us see which planets are malefic, which planets are benefic and which are neutral for libra Ascendants.
Venus is lord of ascendant for Libra. Libra ascendant has a specialty of benefics giving evil results and malefics giving good results.
Jupiter is lord of 3rd and 6th house for Libra ascendant. As lord of two evil houses, he is first rated malefic for Libra ascendant. However, if he placed in cancer, he forms ‘Hamsa’ Maha Purusha Yoga and gives excellent results. For example, in the horoscope of Telugu Superstar Chiranjeevi, Jupiter is placed in 10th house of cancer and he is born in Libra Ascendant. Hence, Jupiter Maha Dasa has given very good success to him giving some of the best hits of his career. For Libra ascendant, Jupiter gives good results when he is placed in 6th house of pieces also, as he forms Vipareeta Raja Yoga there. Except in 6th and 10th, Jupiter gives evil results for Libra ascendant.
Sun is lord of 11th house for Libra Ascendant. 11th lord is called ‘Bdhaka’ planet for any ascendant. Sun as ‘Badhaka’ planet gives evil results for Libra ascendant. Libra natives should be careful in Sun Major / Minor Periods to avoid painful results.
When a planet owns both a Kendra place and a Trine place, he becomes Raja Yoga Karaka. For Libra Ascendants, Saturn is the owner of both 4th and 5th house, thereby becoming Raja Yoga Karaka. Hence, he is first class benefic for Libra ascendants. The 12th house is not as evil as 3rd, 6th, and 11th houses. 12th also rules good things like – foreign travel, temples, spiritual progress, enlightenment, charities etc. Hence, Mercury gives excellent benefic results for Libra ascendants. Both Saturn Major period and Mercury Major period that follows are good periods for Libra ascendants.
Venus is lord of 1st and 8th house for Libra ascendants. Libra is ‘Moolatrikona’ place for Venus. Hence Venus gives excellent benefic results as Lagna lord and neutral results as 8th lord. However, if the Venus is adversely placed in the horoscope, he gives troubles during his Major / Minor periods as the owner of 8th lord. Overall, Venus is Benefic for Libra ascendants.
Moon is lord of 10th house. Hence, he is benefic for Libra ascendants.
Mars is lord of 2nd and 7th house. He owns both maraka places and hence be the ability to function as ‘maraka’ neutralizes. He gives good results to some extent as lord of 7th Kendra. He is capable of conferring excellent raja yoga when placed in Capricorn or Aries as he forms ‘Ruchika’ Maha Purusha yoga there. Overall, the good or bad results of Mars has to be decided by placement, aspects, and conjunctions by an astrologer for Libra ascendants. Hence, Mars is a neutral planet for Libra ascendants.
To sum up, Mercury, Saturn, Moon, and Venus are benefics and give good results for Libra ascendants. Jupiter and Sun are malefics. Jupiter gives evil results to some extent, but Sun is full-fledged malefic for Libra ascendants. Natives should be careful in Sun Dasa. Mars is neutral for Libra ascendants.
